Microteach

As today is our micro teach assessment I made sure that I arrived at Darlington College at 8:30. This was because unfortunately Teesside University’s printers were not working and I could not print there. I printed my paperwork and began to organise them into piles and booklets. Ten minutes into doing this I realised that I did not have enough time as I was second to teach to the group.

I headed to the classroom and spoke to my tutor about the problems I had at Teesside University and fortunately I was able to swop my place with another student so I could get organised. It took me another hour to organise my paperwork and then I joined in with the rest of the group.

With not being organised I felt nervous for my micro teach as I thought I would feel rushed into it. Further through the day I started to calm and feel excited for my turn.

When it came to my lesson the seating arrangement was for the students to be in a half circle shape in front of the Iboard on chairs and for each chair to have a resource package on for the students.

I started my lesson with a presentation from prezi that shown the aims and learning outcomes that lead us into learning about stage positions and roles and responsibilities of a director. My slides included basic information about these topics which then also lead into my practical part. In the resource package they included two different small scripts that I wrote so that each group have a choice of what script they would like to perform. The groups were then individually given the roles of actors, director and assistant director. After their time rehearsing they performed their pieces to the rest of the class and made sure they followed their directors stage directions that we already had went through at the beginning of the lesson. We then finished with the students writing on the whiteboard where each stage position is.

Overall I felt great about my micro teach as I seemed confidant and also enjoyed it. I now know that I had overused my resources for a 15 minute lesson.
