For this lesson we went through how to write measurable objectives by using three particular teaching strategies. These are Psychomotor, which means Physical. Affective, which means emotional and Cognitive that means theory. Cognitive is also linked to the Blooms taxonomy that helps us with our lesson outcomes to make sure our students are reaching their goals.
After going through these strategies we were then put into pairs to then choose a topic we would teach and then use these strategies for different parts of the lesson. For example as we are both performing arts students our topic was “Accents”. We would then go through pronunciation which would fall under Psychomotor as this could be a skill, different types of slang depending on what accent is used, this could fall under cognitive as the students would need to know knowledge about this area and last characterisation which is mannerisms and actions the character would use, this would fall under affective as it’s the attitude of their character.
After our break we then split up into groups to then go through lesson plans. We looked at three different types of lesson plans and discussed what lesson plan is best and what we would change to make them better. This was to give us a recognition of what our own lesson plans need to include for our specialist subject.
At this point within our course I am starting to become a bit confused as there is a lot of theory work included. I need to get used to this as I have been used to the practical side of education from the start of college. To do this I need to concentrate more throughout lessons and ask questions honestly when I need them.
