Today was an exciting day for myself, tutors and students as it was the day of the students’ first performance on the course. The performance took place in the dolphin centre were the production arts students were able to rig their own stage, lighting and sound equipment for the performing arts students.
All students were told to get ready for the beginning of the show so they are able to experience a technical and dress rehearsal for both courses. I and my mentor were sat at the front to take notes throughout their performance so we can give the students some feedback. We were also able to stop and start the show. This means that if any problems appeared we can stop the performance and work out a situation to help the students. The students started off very well but further through the performance we started to experience some technical faults such as a loud buzzing sound coming from the speakers. We then had to stop the performance to suss out what was wrong. The production arts students found out for themselves that a plug from one of the speakers was too close to another so this caused the problem.
After we solved the problem we started from where we left of until the end of the performance.
Overall I am very proud to be working with these students as they seem very hard working and dedicated to the course. They remind me of when I went to college and how much passion goes into this type of course. It’s a privilege to be working with these students and tutors on this particular course
