Vocal Technique Observation

Fridays morning session was located in a different room rather than our own studio. Unfortunatly a ciriculum manager meeting was booked in the same room we were also booked in and had to put forward by ten minutes to make sure the lesson is set up on time. For the session we focusd on vocal technique which included the correct posture for singing, breath control and vocal range. I felt a bit uncomfortable as i put this session together the night before and had taken me 8 hours as i wanted to research some points that i was unsure with. I used prezi again as i feel like this is a great affect with the students and keeps them intreeged throughout. My students again were very well behaved as they always are when i am being observed! But some also came across sarcastic at times, acting as if their vocal range fits into all categories.

I find that the PA students stay focused when watching video clips so i had the idea to play a video clip from youtube which is a disney princess parody. As this video is quirky i knew they would be focused throughout. To

make sure the students are listening and watching the clip i also handed out questionare forms for them to fill in. They seemed more interested when i announced the person with the most questions answered correctly will win a prize! I wanted to show the students what the vocal range categories fits in with so i brought in my own keyboard so they can physically hear the notes. We started this activity by asking every student what range they think they would fit in. Their thought about their range then changed after they heard they keys on the keyboard.

In my observations ive been getting a grade 2. Throughout this session i feel that i may recieve a grade 3 as i dont think it went as well as the first few.
