Every monday i take my son Connor to a music group that involves other children from birth up to 4 years of age. We both have been going to this group for over a year now and i desperatly need to make sure we both go there every week as i feel i do not see him recently. When we turned up to Jolly Jingles there were new children that had started and luckily one of the parents was an old friend from my old workplace. My friend has had a baby girl and said that they will both be coming every week. This made me feel great as i didnt really speak to any of the other parents as they all seem to be older than me. The fact that my friend has now started to come makes me feel more comfortable with the songs when singing with Connor. The lady who runs this group is a very quiet woman who also brings her little boy who is three. We have both now noticed that our children are starting to play together despite having a year age gap. We both spoke about how funny it is that children can catch up to older children at this age but when they are months old you can see a huge difference in their capability. This reminded me of Vygotsky as he discussed the way children act and why. I could see that Connor would copy this child and developed more with actions because he looked up to him. I have now started to notice how much i look at connors development and cannot help myself look back at Vygotskys theory.
