In todays session we discussed a variety of modern approaches to teaching. This means teaching using social networking, underground learning (teaching skills for future employment) gamification (point system for good work), flipped learning (Tell the students to do something and they will go off and research in their own time to bring back a completed task)
Before this session i did not realise that i myself and my mentor use a Modern approach to teaching as we constantly use facebook to converse with our students for any information to pass, upload any videos and also to post any pieces of music we will be using for shows, rehearsals or lessons.
Here is an screenshot example of our group we use via facebook. Some students are able to upload music to make sure they are the correct track that will be used throughout the performances other students will be involved in. We can also keep track that students are doing the correct tasks by answering questions if students are feeling confused about certain pieces of work. Facebook is also useful as myself and my mentor can use it through out phones. Therefore we are able to communicate when away from the college.
Flipped learning is another approach that we use as we can tell the students to devise a piece, go of into groups to put it together then come back and perform it. The students would be told a stimulus for the acting piece and they will have to make sure they hit the criteria of the acting task.
