Cancelled Employability

When arriving at Darlington College to start my Employability session with Production and Performing Arts, it wasn't until I arrived at my classroom to find out that the session had been cancelled. This made me feel annoyed as I was meant to be getting observed that will have contributed towards my PGCE and my scheme of work will be affected as I need to catch my students up with work.

I then visited my staffroom to find the Production Arts programme leader who did not acknowledge me until I spoke to him directly. He told me both groups of students are not in as its a day for Staff to catch up with work.

I think this is appalling behaviour from members of staff as important information has not been passed to those who need it. The attitude from this member of staff was not professional as he did not care that I was not told this information as he said "Its not my problem".

If teachers have this attitude during their lessons then they will not gain the respect from their students. When students do not give you respect then teachers will fail to deliver their session properly and to make sure their students are learning.

As I have issues with some Production Arts students I am now starting to think that their attitude may be influenced by their Programme Leader.
